Beginning in January, 2009, Long Acres will be holding Alpaca Fleece and Fiber Workshops. This 3-part series is aimed at the beginner level for those interested in an introduction into working with this wonderful fiber. Participants can sign up for 1, 2 or all 3 sessions as all are taught independent of the other classes. All of the materials will be supplied and the cost is $35/session or $100 for all three. The first class will cover skirting of the alpaca fleece and we will differentiate between skirting for a fleece show versus for a fleece to be processed. We will also dye yarns and rovings, clean fleeces, learn to use a hand carder and a drum carder. The second class will cover spinning and the third session will be a felted project with overview of several techniques for felting. Class size is limited. The dates are January 23, February 20 and March 20, 2009, all from 1 PM to 4Pm.
